大好きな夏がやってきました！ 暑いのに加えて代謝が良すぎて毎日汗だくですが、ウォータースライダーができる夏が大好きです！
今回は、常夏のフィリピン・セブ島からやってきた夏女 Razel（ラゼル） をご紹介します！
START-UP ENGLISHの先生は全員、セブ島出身です。先生たちはまずセブ島にあるSTART-UP ENGLISHの語学学校であるMBAに採用され、トレーニングを積み、MBAへ語学留学しに来た生徒さんへ実際に英語を教えます。そんな中で優秀かつ日本に来たいメンバーが数々の試験やプレゼンを乗り越え、START-UP ENGLISHの日本校舎へ配属されます。
そして今回Razelが選ばれ、5月末に日本へやって来ました。まだまだ生活面でも仕事面でも不慣れなことや不安だらけだとは思うのですが、いつも元気いっぱいで笑顔の彼女は太陽のようで、いるだけで周りが明るくなります。そんなRazelはどんな人でなぜ日本へ来たのかなどなど聞いてみました！

Razelってどんな人？
–What do you go by? Please teach your nickname.
ーーなんて呼んだらいいかな？ニックネームを教えて！
Actually, people used to call me in two nicknames, Razel and Briggy.
実はRazelとBriggyっていう、二つのニックネームがあるの！
The former one, it’s how my family and relatives call me. With the latter one, Briggy, it’s how my friends and some of my colleagues call me. So, you can call me either of the two.
家族や親戚はRazelって呼ぶし、友達や同僚はBriggyって呼ぶから、好きな方で呼んでもらってOKよ！
–Where are you from?
ーー出身はどこなの？
Originally I am from Pinamungajan, Cebu. It is located in the southern part of Cebu. From Cebu City, it takes almost 2 hours to get there by bus or van.
もともとは、セブの南側にあるPinamungajanという町出身なの。セブの中心部からは車で2時間くらいかかるの。
In addition, this place is famous for various top attractions like beaches and caves as well as some other outdoor activities you can try.
ビーチや洞窟があって、アウトドアのアクティビティが楽しめるわよ！
In 2013, we moved to the province of my father and that is Sogod, Cebu, our current place.
でも2013年に、お父さんの実家のSogodというところに引っ越したから、今はそこに住んでいるの。
It is totally on the opposite side of our first residence, it is located in the northern part of Cebu.
Sogodは、もともと住んでいた場所と真反対側で、セブの北の方にあるわ。
However, it is equally beautiful and historic. If people want to unwind and escape the busy life in the city, these two places are definitely recommended.
でも、どちらも美しくて歴史がある街で、リラックスしたり都市での忙しい生活から離れたいときにとってもおすすめ！！ ぜひ行ってみて！
–What were you like as a kid?
ーー子供のときはどんな子だった？
Way back years ago, I was an enthusiastic kind of kid and loved to do a lot of stuff.
振り返ってみると、いろんなことに熱心な子供だったわ。
For instance, cooking, singing, acting and others. I used to memorize famous lines from TV drama or movies and even some TV commercials and repeat it in front of the mirror.
たとえば、料理をしたり、歌を歌ったり、演じたりとか！ テレビドラマや映画、テレビCMの有名な部分を覚えて、よく鏡の前で真似してたのよ！
Moreover, I was a type of student/pupil who’s very excited to go to school everyday.
そして、毎日学校に行くのを楽しみにしてるような生徒だったわ！
RazelとSTART-UP ENGLISHの出会い
–What did you do before you entered in MBA?
ーーMBAに入社する前は何していたの？
I joined MBA in 2016 and it is my first ever company. But before becoming part of it, after I graduated college, I took a review in preparation for my LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers).
私は2016年にMBAに入社したんだけど、ここが私にとって初めての会社なの！ 入社する前のことを話すと、大学を卒業した後にLET (Licensure Examination for Teachers)のための準備をしていたの。
Then, after passing the exam, I looked for a job and luckily I found MBA and got hired.
その後試験に合格して仕事を探していたところ、幸運にもMBAで働けることになったの！
–Why did you decide to join MBA?
ーーどうしてMBAに入ったの？
I decided to join MBA because I believe that I can grow here personally and professionally.
ここで働くことで、「個人の能力も専門的な能力も鍛えることができる」って強く思ったから就職を決めたの。
It can help me learn a lot of things, widen my perspective and enhance my skills. Indeed, it does.
ここでの経験は、私の物の見方や可能性を広げてくれるはず。必ずね！
Personally, I am able to develop a lot of qualities that help me become who I am today and even discovered new things.
個人の能力で言えば、今日の自分が成長することだったり、新しい発見だったり。
Professionally, I learn plenty of things that are useful for my job and even still learning for the betterment of my craft. . I can feel that I have continuous growth.
専門的な能力で言えば、仕事に役立つことを沢山学んでいるし、今も技術を磨くために沢山勉強しているところ！ 毎日成長できてるなって感じるわ。
Razelの日本での生活
–Why did you want to come to Japan?
ーーどうして日本に来たかったの？
Since before, Japan is one of the top countries I always wanted to go to. Luckily, I’m happy that our company gives us the opportunity to work here.
日本は昔から行きたい国の中の一つだったから。日本で働く機会を貰えて嬉しい。
I am always fascinated with this place because of its interesting culture, advancement of technology, fashion, convenience, picturesque places and of course its seasons.
私は日本に日本に魅了されているわ。たとえば、文化や最先端の技術、ファッション、利便性、絵に描いたような景色、あとは四季！
Talking about seasons, I definitely want to experience spring and have the chance to a picture under a cherry blossom tree.
春に桜の木の下で写真を撮りたいな！
–How about Japan?
ーー日本はどう？
Being comfortable? Convenient? Discipline? Technology? Cleanliness? Well, Japan has it all. Japan is the first country I’ve ever visited.
快適、便利、規律、テクノロジー、清潔、って感じかな？ 私が人生で初めて訪れた外国が日本なの。
And I am totally amazed with what the place can offer.
何でもあるからびっくりしてる！
Everything you needed is here. There are various of things I truly admire.
欲しいものはなんでもここにあるわ。称賛すべきこともたくさんある。
For example, in restaurants, the food presentation or sample is totally the same when you order. I am astonish how punctual and on time the trains and buses are. There are certainly a lot of things you can appreciate and try here, in Japan.
例えばレストランでは、料理の見た目やサンプルとまったく同じものが運ばれてくるし、電車やバスは定刻 通りに来る。
Lastly, I’m looking forward to experiencing great moments and making memories here.
日本で素晴らしい時間を過ごして、思い出を作っていきたいな。
–Where do you want to go in Japan?
ーー日本で行きたいところはある？
Japan has a lot of places to enjoy and go to. That’s why I have a lot on my lists.
日本には楽しめるところが多いから、私のリストにもたくさん行きたい場所があるわ。
As an example, I want to go to places where I can experience “onsen”. Then, I want to know more about the country’s culture and traditions so, I want to go to famous temples and areas like Kyoto or Osaka.
例えば温泉を体験してみたい！ あとは、日本の文化や歴史を学んでみたいから、有名な寺院がある京都や大阪に行きたい。
Also, I want to go to parks or places where I can have a good sight of cherry blossoms. I want to experience visiting local areas and do some outdoor activities.
桜を見に景色のきれいな公園にも行きたいし、田舎の方に行ってアウトドアアクティビティーもやってみたいわ。
Since I am very interested in fashion, I also want to go to famous shopping areas and somehow do window shopping. Mainly, I want to go to places which are famous here where I can only see before in the books or internet.
それからファッションに興味があるから、有名なショッピング街でウィンドウショッピングもしたい！要するに、有名な観光地や本やネットでしか見たことのないところに行ってみたいの。

–What are you good at about lesson?
ーー何を教えるのが得意なの？
I am mainly comfortable teaching Business English, General English and Speech Communication.
私はビジネス英語や一般的な英語、スピーチを教えるのが得意。
However, as a teacher, I can be flexible and I try my best to meet whatever requests or needs my students have in learning the language.
でも先生として、言語を勉強している生徒みんなの要望に最大限応えるようにしているから、柔軟に対応するよ。
We are (I and my students) a team so, we are going to work together to have a positive result and a good outcome.
私と生徒のみんなはチームだから、協力していい結果を出しましょう！
–Could you say a few words for everyone?
ーーでは皆さんに一言お願い！
Let’s study English! Enjoy and have fun! Don’t be afraid of committing mistakes for it’s where we learn. Don’t give up even how hard things become. Stay positive and give your best shot as always.
英語を勉強しましょう！ そして楽しみましょう！ 失敗を恐れないで、大変なことがあっても諦めないで！ ポジティブに頑張ろう！
